Dr. P. Gabrielle Foreman is a poet's daughter and MacArthur "Genius Grant" winner who hails from the South Side of Chicago and Venice, California. She is the founding director of the award-winning Colored Conventions Project which brings the history of early Black organizing to digital life. For a decade, she has also worked with poets and performers to bring early Black history to the stage.
Dr. Foreman is a professor of English, African American Studies, and History at Penn State University. She publishes extensively on issues of race, reform, and resistance in the nineteenth century, focusing on the past’s continuing hold on the world we inhabit today.
