Peter Skomoroch

Peter Skomoroch is a senior executive with extensive experience building and running data science, AI, & machine learning teams. He's shipped data products at public companies that scaled to hundreds of millions of users and drove significant revenue, engagement, and growth. Skomoroch was a leader at one of the first data science teams, and helped define and evangelize data science and machine learning through publications, press and public speaking.

He was most recently Co-Founder and CEO of SkipFlag, a venture backed deep learning startup which was funded by top tier investors including Accel Partners, Greylock, and OATV. They were acquired by Workday, a public company, in January 2018. Their technology used your internal communication, support tickets, and documents to automatically build and update an enterprise knowledge base. SkipFlag applied machine reading comprehension on this knowledge base to construct a knowledge graph of the people, topics, and facts within your company and autonomously answer questions.

Previously, Skomoroch applied his skills at LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network. He was on the early data team where he reported to DJ Patil and Deep Nishar as they grew from 400 to 8000 employees. As Principal Data Scientist, he managed a set of data teams focused on reputation, search, inferred identity and building data products. Skomoroch was also the creator of LinkedIn Skills & LinkedIn Endorsements. Endorsements was one of the fastest growing new product features in LinkedIn's history with over 3 billion endorsements of more than 70 million members within the first year after launch.

Before LinkedIn, he was Director of Analytics at Juice Analytics and Senior Research Engineer at AOL Search. Prior to AOL, Skomoroch optimized pricing for Fortune 500 retailers, studied machine learning and neural networks at MIT, and applied ML to Biodefense for DARPA and the DOD. He has a BS in Mathematics and Physics from Brandeis University and research experience in Physics, Biology and Neuroscience.
