Peter Thum

Peter Thum is a recognized entrepreneur and humanitarian focused on addressing critical social issues through innovative business models. He is the founder and CEO of "Liberty United" and "Fonderie 47," ventures that transform illegal guns and bullets into high-end jewelry, watches, and art. These enterprises not only fund programs to reduce gun violence in the U.S. but also support disarmament efforts in African war zones.

In 2008, Thum was working on water projects in Africa where he encountered young men armed with assault rifles. This experience inspired him to establish "Fonderie 47," an initiative that has successfully destroyed over 70,000 assault rifles in African conflict areas. Meanwhile, "Liberty United" channels funds towards educational and safety programs in American neighborhoods plagued by gun violence, aiming to protect and uplift at-risk children.

Thum's entrepreneurial journey began with the founding of "Ethos Water," a brand dedicated to tackling global water scarcity. After its acquisition by Starbucks in 2005, "Ethos Water" has contributed more than $14 million to water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects, reaching over half a million people worldwide. In addition, he founded the non-profit "Giving Water," which has significantly improved water access and sanitation for over 6,000 schoolchildren in Kenya.

Before his ventures into social entrepreneurship, Thum gained valuable experience at McKinsey & Company and the Gallo Winery. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA from Claremont McKenna College. Through his work, Thum has been a vocal advocate for corporate social responsibility and ethical branding, sharing his insights and experiences to inspire others to contribute to societal improvement.
