Rob Lilwall

Rob Lilwall received his education at Edinburgh University and Oxford University, where his early career included roles as a door-to-door salesman in California and London, and as a high school geography teacher in the UK. He is known for his remarkable global expeditions, including the three-year, 50,000 km "Cycling Home From Siberia" expedition which began in September 2004, and the six-month, 5,000 km "Walking Home From Mongolia" expedition completed in mid-2012. Both adventures were not only rigorous journeys but also became subjects for National Geographic television series. His travels have taken him through some of the world's most daunting terrains, from the icy reaches of the Gobi Desert to the dense jungles of Papua New Guinea.

In addition to his expeditions, Lilwall's accomplishments extend to his literary and media contributions. He authored a book about his Siberian cycling journey, published by Hodder & Stoughton, and also documented his Mongolia adventure in both a book and a TV series released in 2013. Beyond writing, he has delivered motivational talks at various prestigious platforms, including TEDx events with talks titled "Two Accidental Careers" and "Learning on the Road."

Currently based in Hong Kong, Lilwall continues his career in speaking, writing, and embarking on new adventures. He is also deeply involved in philanthropy, working as a fundraiser for the charity Viva, which supports children at risk globally. Together with his wife, he serves as the Hong Kong Joint National Director of Viva, furthering their commitment to charitable causes. His engagements are well-received across continents, where his narratives not only inspire but also impart valuable lessons in resilience and resourcefulness, resonating particularly well in corporate and educational settings.
