Robert Dederick

Robert heads RGD Economics, a consulting firm. Previously he was Executive Vice President and Chief Economist at the Northern Trust Company, Chicago.

Between May 1981, and September 1983, Robert served as Assistant Secretary and Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs. In that capacity, he oversaw the Commerce Department's statistical agencies and was responsible for its economic and domestic economic policy analysis.

Before joining the Department of Commerce, he also served as Economic Research Manager for New England Mutual Life Insurance Company in Boston. He taught economics at Harvard, Cornell, and Boston Universities. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, Robert graduated from Harvard University, where he received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees.

Robert is a member of the Congressional Budget Office's Panel of Economic Advisers; member, Technical Consultants to the Business Council; member, Economic Advisory Committee of the American Bankers Association; fellow and former president of the National Association of Business Economists; member and past chairman, Conference of Business Economists; advisor, Bank Management Magazine; member, International Conference of Commercial Bank Economists.

In 1987, he was granted the William B. Butler Memorial Award for "Excellence in Business Economics." He continues to be widely quoted in the press and appears frequently on radio and television.
