Ron Paul

Ron Paul is known for his advocacy for liberty, prosperity, and peace. As a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and a three-time presidential candidate, he has been a consistent proponent of limited, constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. He has always ensured that his votes in Congress were in strict adherence to the U.S. Constitution.

Ron Paul was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After earning degrees from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, he served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. In 1968, he moved to Texas with his wife Carol, initiating his medical practice in Brazoria County. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, he delivered more than 4,000 babies. The couple, who reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, have five children and 17 grandchildren.

During his tenure in Congress in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Paul was notable for his adherence to limited-government principles, which often set him apart from his contemporaries. In 1976, he was one of only four Republican congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan for president. His legislative career included significant roles such as serving on the House Banking committee, where he was an advocate for sound monetary policies and a critic of the Federal Reserve's inflationary practices. He was also a strong supporter of pro-life and pro-family values, and he consistently sought to reduce or eliminate federal taxes, spending, and regulation. After a hiatus to return to his medical practice in 1984, he was re-elected to Congress in 1997 to represent Texas's 14th congressional district. During this term, he served on the House Committee on Financial Services and the Committee on Foreign Affairs and was Chairman of the Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology. Following his retirement from Congress in early 2013, he has continued to promote a significant reduction in the size of the federal government and a steadfast return to constitutional principles.
