Rubén Caballero

Ruben Caballero is a passionate and thorough engineering senior executive (product and technology) with experience in R&D, prototyping, designing, integrating, testing, and shipping millions of world-class consumer electronics products and technologies. He is currently the Corporate Vice President of Engineering - experiences, devices, and technology at Microsoft, where he oversees the mixed reality and AI division.

He was one of the founding leaders of the iPhone hardware team and later expanded his role to include iPad, Apple Watch, Macintosh, and all other hardware products. In addition, he became the product leader for the last two generations of Apple TV and Airport devices, leading multiple engineering organizations, including Mechanical Design, Electrical Engineering, and Firmware.

He is the founder and leader of the Wireless Design & Technology group at Apple, which includes R&D, roadmap, architecture, design, validation, certification, regulatory, field, and production/factory tests for all Apple HW products.

Caballero is excellent at growing and leading multi-site (over 1000 employees in 26 countries), multi-disciplinary projects, including recruiting, developing, and leading engineering teams, as well as strategic planning and budgeting responsibilities. He is a proven innovator for new consumer experiences, creating new technology areas and breakthrough designs to align with Apple product roadmaps.

He attended New Mexico State University for his Master in Electrical Engineering and received an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Montreal.
