Ryan Tannehill

Ryan Tannenhill is an American football quarterback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Dolphins eighth overall in the 2012 NFL Draft and played college football at Texas A&M.

Tannenhill grew up in Texas where he played high school football and received second-team District 4-4A honors for both his junior and senior seasons. His college careers began at Texas A&M where he redshirted his first season in 2007. During the 2008 season, he posted freshman school records of 210 yards on 12 catches. After his six receptions for 78 yards in the Iowa State game, he broke the freshman school records for receptions and receiving yards.

Tannehill finished the 2009 season with a team-leading 46 receptions for 609 yards and four touchdowns and by 2010, he set a school record with his 449 passing yards. Tannehill concluded his quarterback career at Texas A&M with a total of 5,450 passing yards 42 Touchdown passes and 21 interceptions.

In the 2012 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected Tannehill with the 8th overall pick. He was the first quarterback selected by the Dolphins in the first round since Dan Marino in 1983. In the 2012 season, Tannehill set a franchise record for longest run by a quarterback by rushing 31 yards in a single play. Tannehill has gone on to set franchise rookie records for passing yards, attempts, and completions. On May 18, 2015, Tannehill signed a 6-year contract extension with the Dolphins through the 2020 season.

Tannehill graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology in May 2011 and had planned to become an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee injuries. Ryan and his wife Lauren Tannehill reside in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with their son, Steele Tannehill.
