Ryan Zimmerman

Ryan Zimmerman is a retired professional baseball infielder who dedicated his entire 17-year career to the Washington Nationals. After playing college baseball at the University of Virginia, Zimmerman was selected as the fourth overall pick by the Nationals in the 2005 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft. He made his MLB debut later that same year. Zimmerman, known for his versatility, primarily played as a third baseman before transitioning to first base in 2015.

Throughout his career, Zimmerman accumulated a series of accolades. He won the Gold Glove Award and two Silver Slugger awards, was twice selected as an MLB All-Star, and even won the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award in 2011. Zimmerman's skills were integral to the Nationals during their World Series championship run in 2019. His dedication to the team was rewarded when his jersey number, No. 11, was retired by the Washington Nationals. He also represented the United States in the World University Championship in 2004, where he won a gold medal.

Off the field, Zimmerman has also made significant contributions. He founded the ziMS Foundation, dedicated to treating and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis.
