Salli Richardson-Whitfield is an actress, producer, and television director.
Noteworthy roles in her acting career include her performance in "A Low Down Dirty Shame" and her portrayal of Dr. Allison Blake on the Syfy series "Eureka." In addition, Richardson-Whitfield has lent her voice to the animated series "Gargoyles", portraying the character Elisa Maza.
Richardson-Whitfield has directed episodes of several popular TV series such as "Queen Sugar," "Scandal," "Black-ish," and "Luke Cage." This transition was met with acclaim, earning her multiple awards and nominations. She received a Black Reel Award for Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series for her work on "Black-ish," and an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series for "Luke Cage."
Richardson-Whitfield's work has continued to develop and evolve. In 2020, she signed a project development deal with HBO and directed episodes of "The Gilded Age" and an untitled Lakers project. She was recognized with the 2024 Gracie Award for Director and Producer for her contributions to "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty" and "The Gilded Age" respectively.
