Sassan Ghahramani

Sassan Ghahramani, President and CEO of SGH Macro Advisors is recognized as one of the foremost experts on global macro policy and politics and their impact on currency, bond and equity markets. His firm provides macro intelligence directly and exclusively to some of the most senior economic policy makers and many of the most well-know and influential hedge fund and asset managers in the world.

Ghahramani launched SGH Macro Advisors in 2009. Prior to that he was President and CEO of Medley Global Advisors (MGA), another highly influential macro-policy intelligence firm for hedge funds and asset managers. Prior to MGA, Ghahramani ran a foreign exchange trading desk and was a senior trader at major financial institutions, including Lehman Brothers, AIG, and UBS.

Ghahramani was born in Tehran, Iran, the son of a diplomat under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and spent his childhood in Canada, Russia, and Spain, where he attended the Anglo-American School of Moscow, the Tehran International School, and the American School of Madrid. He moved to the United States to attend Brown University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, combining Political Science, Economics, and History. He started his graduate school studies at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and subsequently moved to New York to obtain a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from NYU with a concentration in Finance before embarking on a career in the financial markets.

Ghahramani uniquely combines knowledge of central banking and economic policy, politics, and geopolitics, built on direct interaction with global policymakers, with deep expertise in capital markets to deliver cutting edge and forward looking insight on European and US economic policy and markets, opportunities, and risks.

Sassan is a frequent guest on Bloomberg television/radio and has appeared on CNBC, CNN, and CBS among other media outlets in the United States. He has also written numerous publications and appeared on a number of international programs, including Newsweek International, Russia’s RFTV and Japan’s TV Tokyo. As CEO of SGH Macro Advisors and MGA Ghahramani has privately met, hosted and briefed some of the most senior policymakers from across the globe, including central bank governors, cabinet officials, and heads of state and regularly briefs some of the most powerful investors in global markets.
