Selema Masekela

Selema Masekela is a renowned commentator, journalist, host, surfer, skateboarder, and Emmy-Nominated producer with an impressive portfolio of work across VICE, E!, ESPN, ABC, Nat Geo, Red Bull Media House, NBC, and more. In addition to his extensive history in action sports journalism, including coverage of the Red Bull Signature Series and the X Games, Masekela is known for his cultural reports, such as the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He is the son of South African jazz legend and activist Hugh Masekela, which has undoubtedly influenced his work as a musician under the alias 'Alekesam'.

Masekela co-founded Stoked Mentoring, an organization that mentors at-risk youth through action sports. He also serves as an ambassador for Dockers and as a consultant and talent for Red Bull. Masekela is on the Board of Directors for Burton Snowboards, where he helps lead their Culture Shifters program aimed at promoting diversity in snowboarding. His career extends into the publishing industry with the release of his book "AFRO SURF", which celebrates the surfing culture of Africa, showcasing another layer of his multifaceted career.

Developing his own lifestyle brand called Alekesam, Masekela has further established himself as a lifestyle influencer and creator marketing executive.
