Sgt. Brian Eisch

Brian Eisch is a retired Master Sergeant of the US Army, having served from 1992 to 2012. His military career included a significant deployment to Afghanistan, where he was involved in a raid in Kunduz Province to save a wounded Afghan policeman. During this mission, Eisch was shot three times in the legs and consequently lost his left leg. His valor and dedication earned him the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with Valor.

"Father Soldier Son" is a documentary by The New York Times that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released on Netflix on July 17, 2020. The film captures Eisch's life and the life of his family over a decade, highlighting the challenges and sacrifices faced by military families. Eisch's story is not only about his military service but also his personal struggles and resilience, especially after the tragic death of his son Joey in 2015, who was killed by a truck while riding his bike.

Today, Eisch resides in Casco, WI, with his son Jaxon, while his other son Isaac lives in nearby Green Bay, WI. Beyond his military accomplishments, Eisch has found solace and passion in tournament Bass fishing, an activity that underscores his connection to life outside the military. His journey continues to inspire veterans and others facing significant life challenges, motivating them to find new purpose and strength.
