Shannon Odell is a Brooklyn-based comedian, science communicator, and neuroscientist. Odell is passionate about sharing science in surprising, relatable, and entertaining ways. She wrote and hosted the viral digital series Your Brain on Blank, where she explained how everything, from alcohol to heartbreak, affects the brain. Merging science with comedy, she performs science-based stand-up and co-hosts the comedic science podcast The Science of Self-Care. She co-produces and co-hosts Drunk Science, a live comedy show meets drinking game meets science lecture series, deemed “a stroke of genius” by Gothamist and a finalist in TruTV’s comedy break out initiative.
Odell is a featured science expert for The Science Channel’s What on Earth! and FOX’s Xploration Sci Q. Odell completed her PhD in neuroscience at Weill Cornell Medicine, where she studied memory, epigenetics, and how the brain adapts to meet environmental challenges.
