Sigourney Weaver

Sigourney Weaver began her career with her role as Ellen Ripley in the iconic "Alien" series. Her performance in this role set a precedent for her career, leading to her first film being inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. Weaver's talent did not go unrecognized as she received a BAFTA nomination for "Alien", and won the Saturn Award for Best Actress for "Aliens". She continued to pursue varied roles, starring in notable films including "Ghostbusters", "The Year of Living Dangerously", and "Working Girl". In 1988, her performances in "Gorillas in the Mist" and "Working Girl" earned her two Golden Globes.

Weaver's career continued to prosper as she received nominations for an Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award for her role in "Prayers for Bobby". She also played a significant role in the highest-grossing film of all time, "Avatar," directed by James Cameron. In addition to her on-screen roles, Weaver has also made significant contributions to the theater, receiving a Tony Award nomination for her performance in "Hurlyburly". She returned to Broadway in the play "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike," which won the Tony Award for Best Play.

Her most recent work includes reprising her role as Dr. Grace Augustine / Kiri in the "Avatar" film series, and starring in the drama miniseries "The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart" for which she also served as executive producer. In 2024, she received the International Goya Award for her impressive career and inspiring portrayal of complex and strong female characters. She is also set to make her West End debut in 2025 as Prospero in "The Tempest" at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Throughout her career, Weaver has received three Academy Award nominations, a Grammy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards among other accolades.
