Steve Ingham

Dr. Steve Ingham is a highly respected expert in high-performance sport, with over two decades of experience supporting elite athletes and teams. Throughout his career, he has helped over 1,000 athletes, including more than 200 Olympic and World medalists, reach the pinnacle of their sporting careers. Notable athletes he has worked with include Jessica Ennis-Hill, Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Matthew Pinsent, and Kelly Sotherton.

Dr. Ingham's journey into high-performance sport began after the 1996 Olympics, initially working with regional athletes before stepping into the international arena. He went on to hold pivotal roles at the British Olympic Association as Sports Science Manager and at the English Institute of Sport as Head of Physiology and later Director of Science and Technical Development. In this role, he led a team of 200 scientists, providing critical support to Team GB and Paralympics GB.

In addition to his extensive practical experience, Dr. Ingham holds a BSc from the University of Brighton and a PhD, which he completed while working with the British Rowing team. He is also a proud Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences.

Dr. Ingham is the host of the Supporting Champions podcast, where he delves into the science and psychology of human performance, and is the author of two bestselling books: "How to Support a Champion: The Art of Applying Science to the Elite Athlete" and "The First Hurdle: A Guide to Searching, Applying and Interviewing for Jobs in Sports Performance." His writing and speaking work focuses on inspiring others to adapt and reach their highest potential, both in sport and beyond.
