Steven Williams

Steven Williams is the President of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF), Director of IT Services at NetSecurity Corporation, President of Internet Society (ISOC) Washington DC, Board Member Hope 929, Advisory Board Member Project 1619, Principal Consultant at Micro Information Services, leader of the Funkativity band, and single father of two.

NJOF President, Williams was raised in an environment recognizing Juneteenth. Born in Los Angeles, California, and having lived in Colorado, Kansas, and Kansas City, MO with family from Oklahoma, he has always been exposed to Juneteenth. He performed at his first Juneteenth in Denver, Colorado sponsored by local legend “Daddy Bruce” Randolph back in the mid-1970s.

While working with the Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee in Washington D.C. during the 2002 session, he attended a Juneteenth Prayer Breakfast at the National Press Club. At that event, he met NJOF founder and chairman Rev. Ronald V. “Doc” Myers SR M.D. and became actively involved in the National Juneteenth holiday campaign mission. For 17 years he worked as a liaison for "Doc" Myers to Capitol Hill. In 2018 Williams was elected President of the NJOF with “Doc Myers” support and continued the Juneteenth holiday campaign which culminated in the unanimous passage by the United States Senate and 97% of the House of Representatives of the Juneteenth National Independence Day Bill in 2021. In the words of Senate Majority Senator Chuck Schumer at a June 16, 2021, Press Conference in Washington D.C., "and Steve Williams, who has been so fabulous and relentless, in making sure that this (Juneteenth) happens."
