Tanya M. Odom

Tanya Odom, Ed.M. is a global consultant, facilitator, professor, author, Executive Coach and thought leader.

She has created and conducted hundreds of workshops on inclusive leadership , race/racism, gender equality, teambuilding, mindfulness and well being , innovation, educational equity, girls’ leadership development, for adults, youth, corporate, not-for-profit, NGOS, law enforcement and education entities around the US and the world.

Tanya has lived and/or worked in over 30 countries. From working with US and international corporations in their efforts to maximize diversity and inclusion opportunities and create sustainable change, to working with homeless women and children living in temporary housing facilities, Tanya’s unique portfolio of experiences has afforded her the opportunity to work with the numerous not-for-profit organizations including the Anti-Defamation League, New Leaders for New Schools, Planned Parenthood, The Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation, The Nathan Cummings Foundation, US Fund for UNICEF, UN WOMEN, The National Urban League, European Peer Training Organization, among others.

As a former Georgetown University, Princeton University and Manhattanville College faculty member, Tanya has taught graduate level classes on innovation, creativity, diversity, leadership, and team development.

She is the co-author of "Evaluation in the Field of Education for Democracy, Human Rights and Tolerance.”Tanya is a contributor to the Huffington Post, where she has written posts about diversity, leadership, self-compassion, and mindfulness. Tanya’s work and commentary also appears in Diversity Woman Magazine and on CNN.com.

Tanya was named by Diversity Best Practices as “A Diversity Thought Leader to Follow on Twitter.”

As a mindfulness practitioner, Tanya weaves in mindfulness research and practice in her work with individuals and groups and connects it to leadership, teams, and the mitigating of unconscious bias.

Tanya, the first female Co-Chairperson of Townsend Harris High School Alumni Association's Board of Directors. Tanya is also on the Advisory Board for "Wall Street in the Black."

Tanya, a Center for Creative Leadership-trained Executive Coach, and holds an Ed.M. in Education from Harvard University and a B.A. in Anthropology/ Sociology from Vassar College.
