The Pretty Reckless, a rock band formed in 2009, has made a significant impact in the music industry with its hard rock, post-grunge, and alternative sounds. The band is composed of Taylor Momsen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Ben Phillips (lead guitar, backing vocals), Mark Damon (bass), and Jamie Perkins (drums). They released their debut studio album, "Light Me Up," in August 2010. The album was well-received for its mix of heavy guitar riffs and Momsen’s raspy, haunting vocals. Their track “Make Me Wanna Die” became a fan favorite, climbing high on rock charts and becoming a staple at their live shows.
The band's second studio album, "Going to Hell," released in March 2014, included chart-topping singles "Heaven Knows" and "Messed Up World." This album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200, making The Pretty Reckless the first female-fronted band to have two No. 1 hits on the Mainstream Rock chart. "Going to Hell" further showcased the band’s darker themes, exploring spirituality, loss, and rebellion. The album’s success solidified the band as a prominent force in modern rock, leading to more headlining tours and high-profile performances.
The Pretty Reckless continued their success with their third studio album, "Who You Selling For," released in October 2016. The lead single, "Take Me Down," topped the Mainstream Rock chart. After a hiatus, the band returned in 2021 with their fourth album, "Death by Rock and Roll," which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart. This album made them the first female-fronted band to achieve seven number-one singles on the Mainstream Rock chart.
In addition to their studio albums, The Pretty Reckless released a compilation album titled "Other Worlds" in November 2022, featuring alternate versions and new covers. The band has opened for major acts like AC/DC, Evanescence, and Guns N' Roses and has performed at notable music festivals, including The Bamboozle, Warped Tour, and Download Festival. The band has been recognized with numerous awards, including "Best Hard Rock Band" at the Alternative Press Music Awards in 2017 and "Rock Artist of the Year" at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2021.
