Tina Charles

Tina Charles is a professional basketball player for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). A collegiate player at the University of Connecticut, she and teammate Maya Moore led the Huskies to two undefeated national championships.

As the 1st overall draft pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft by the Connecticut Sun, Charles' impact on the court was immediate. She earned the Rookie of the Year award in her debut season. Known for her versatility, athleticism, and scoring ability, Charles quickly became a dominant force in the league.

Charles played for the Connecticut Sun from 2010 to 2014 when she was traded to New York Liberty. She was later traded to the Washington Mystics in 2020, and also had brief stints with Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm before arriving in Atlanta.

Additionally, she has won three Olympic gold medals with Team USA.

Off the court, Charles established the Hopey's Heart Foundation, which is committed to improving the health of student and amateur athletes through the provision of health education and medical equipment in schools, community and recreational centers. In 2018, she was awarded the Mannie Jackson Basketball's Human Spirit Award for her work with the foundation. Charles has also funded a school in Mali.
