Valeisha Butterfield-Jones

Valeisha Butterfield-Jones currently serves as the co-president of the Recording Academy and as the co-founder of the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN). Her leadership and contributions have been recognized by multiple publications and organizations, reflecting her diverse achievements across various fields.

An award-winning political strategist, author, and executive, Butterfield-Jones formerly served in the Obama Administration as the Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Commerce and as the National Youth Vote Director for the Obama for America campaign, contributing to one of the highest youth voter turnouts in American history. Her career began at HBO Sports and spans over two decades with significant impact at the intersections of technology, politics, and entertainment. She has held roles such as the Global Head of Community Inclusion at Google, where she accelerated diversity, equity, and inclusion outcomes for underrepresented communities.

Butterfield-Jones has been recognized by Forbes, Elle's Top 10 Women to Watch, Essence's Top 40 under 40, Harper's Bazaar, Ebony’s Power 100, TheRoot100, and others. She authored the book "The Girlprint," a career mentorship guide for young women. Moreover, she engages in various leadership roles, serving on the board of directors of ColorComm, Hip Hop Sisters Network, and the National Basketball Wives Association. A graduate of Clark Atlanta University and a North Carolina native, she now calls California home, where she continues to inspire and lead in numerous capacities.
